After graduating summa cum laude from Commonwealth College at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a BFA in 2D Studies/Painting, Emma moved to the Big City (Boston!) to seek her fortune.
Though her career path was a wide one – ranging from framing design to cake decor to theater design, from teaching art to children to coordinating a creative afterschool program – Emma found that she always loved learning new ways to design and to incorporate art into every day. Inspired by the creativity of the children she was teaching (and by all of the books surrounding them), she began working on children’s illustrations alongside her painting, and started a business, selling artwork online and at local artisan shows and markets.
Combining her fine arts & design background with the technical tools of web design and ecommerce business management, Emma became Director of Creative & Marketing at Commerce Forge, an eCommerce solutions firm. There, she managed all things visual – from website design to graphic ads, creative marketing to social campaigns to branding and business identity – and oversaw the creative process from initial spark through collaborative development to final project.
